Layer N is building a next-generation blockchain scaling infrastructure company that maximizes their impact with a team-first culture. As a fast growing startup, they grew their team from 5 to 10 within just a few months. As a distributed team, David Cao, COO, wanted to plan an offsite to foster stronger team bonding, as well as dedicated in-person time for strategic planning and work.
Their criteria: Bali Offsite at a nice villa, Nov 30th–Dec 7th, for 9-10 people
After sending in their preferences to Nowadays, options of luxurious but affordable villas on the coasts of Bali populated into their dashboard.
“I was very surprised by Nowadays results and how good they were. I actually had spent some time researching venues myself as well and ended up finding the same top results that Nowadays came up with.” – David, COO of Layer N.
After a week in Bali, the highlights of the team included activities and time spent surfing, going on tours, and indulging in local cuisines. Work-wise, the opportunity to present and brainstorm all in the same room, as well as get to know each other on a more personal level, allowed the team to get closer in a meaningful way.
The biggest result of the trip? Because of how great it was to have the team together, the entire company ended up moving to SF to work together in person.
“Next time, we’d love Nowadays to plan our entire offsite!”
💡 Tip: Bringing remote teams into one central location often leads to strong jet lag for team members. Make sure to bake that in when considering the destination and the length of the retreat!
